The CNF Photo Album is back up! Go take a look and tell me if anything is still buggy. I'll probably put a more permanent link around here later... Many thanks to my dear sweet Patrick for fixing the server and helping get things back up. Back to the homework now...

Mudd ground workers' nod to the tragic events of last Tuesday

So in an attempt to get back to normalcy, here's what's been going on with me...I've been looking at the Watson Fellowship recently. Of all the study abroad fellowships, it definitely looks coolest. There are 60 Watson Fellows selected annually from 50 or so colleges that participate in the program. These fellows can go almost anywhere as long as it's outside of the US and study whatever they've been dreaming about. It doesn't have to have any relevance to their major or career choice, and they can't study at a school abroad. So you're basically plopped down on your own in a foreign land and live your life from there. I'm not sure if I'm strong enough for that, but it would certainly be an experience I'd never forget. Here's a journal by a recent Watson fellow from Caltech. So we'll see what comes of that...the deadline is pretty soon, so I might not make it in time anyway.

I don't feel like talking about the events of last Tuesday, even though I definitely have opinions about lots of things. Basically, I don't think we should go to war...we need to figure out why somebody hates us so much and work from there. I don't know...I'm not much for hating others based on their nationality and randomly killing innocent people in other countries. It seems pretty counter-productive and just perpetuates the hate and violence. But I also wasn't directly affected by the attacks, so that could be why I'm not too emotionally involved.

My way of dealing with unpleasant things is usually just to ignore them and hide them in the back of my mind and pretend they don't bother me. Not healthy, but at least it's back to life as normal (mostly) for me. I hope everyone else can return to their normal lives with as little pain as possible. My heart goes out to everybody involved in this awful ordeal.

Wow...I don't have anything original to say about the World Trade Center/Pentagon attacks, but this is unreal. I think the most disturbing thing is that they used our own planes to crash into our buildings. Attacking us on two sensitive fronts...

I hope we figure out how those four planes were hijacked so it won't happen again...Well, good thoughts to everyone who may have had loved ones involved in this. Scary...

So my classes yesterday were fun, though I had no time for lunch...

CS70. I do believe I'm going to drop this class because all my CS major friends tell me it's a lot of work, and I could use a slower semester right now.

Typography. This is an art class at Scripps, and I'll have to be way more creative than I normally am for the class. We typeset our names and contact info in class, and it was so cool! Even though it looks like it'll be a lot of work, I'm excited to participate in creating a book.

Human Sexuality. I think this class is going to be lots of fun to go to. It's a really popular Pomona class, so I guess I'm lucky that there are only 70 people in it this semester.

Oops...Patrick's here for lunch, so I've got to go. Oh, but CNF pictures should be up within a week (Patrick keeps telling me his computer will be fixed soon). Sorry for the delay!

Pictures from Boston are up, as well as a few from the NNUN Convocation in DC (not as many as I would've liked, but I was feeling lazy). Not too exciting, but there you go...

We just got back from seeing Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. It was pretty crappy (I mean that in the best way possible!), but we still had big smiles on our faces when we left the theater. I think it served its purpose as Kevin Smith's last movie in the series and it had lots of fun cameos. I liked it!
